Authorities sealed four warehouses of content creator Salman Muqtadir’s father-in-law Sheikh Nur Islam on allegations of storing duty-free liquor in South Gulshan, Dhaka on Thursday night.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), the Department of Narcotics Control, and the Special Response Battalion-1 (SRB-1) jointly conducted the operation on the warehouses of Tos Bond (Pvt) Limited.
According to the operation team, the number of authorized and declared warehouses of the institution was two. However, an on-site inspection revealed that going beyond the limits, they had stocked products in four warehouses. Goods were being illegally stored in two additional unauthorized warehouses.
To ensure that duty-free (bonded) products imported under bond facilities cannot be transferred or removed from unauthorized locations, the decision was made to seal all four related warehouses of the institution.
The investigation is ongoing. Sheikh Nur Islam is involved in operating numerous bars in Dhaka.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) had sought the bank account details of Salman. A letter was sent to all banks and financial institutions in the country on Wednesday.
On 26 September, an incident of attack, vandalism, and looting occurred at Salman’s Brownfish studio. Alleging that BNP members were involved in this attack incident, Salman said on Facebook Live, “BNP people who are doing this, this is your extortion. Why are you ruining my dream?”
