Caught Red-Handed While Stealing a Sacrificial Bull

A young man named Murad (22) was caught by locals while attempting to steal a sacrificial cow in the Vitikandi area of Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj. He was later beaten by locals and handed over to the police.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Dewan residence in Vitikandi village under Bhoberchar Union. According to police and local sources, the victim, Abdul Motin Dewan, had bought a bull from the makeshift cattle market and kept it at his house. Late at night, Murad and several others attempted to untie the cow and take it away.
Sensing some strangers' presence, the homeowner chased the thieves and managed to catch Murad on the spot while the others fled. Locals later assaulted him and handed him over to the police.
Bull owner Abdul Motin Dewan said he was awake at around 2:30 a.m. as he could not sleep. At that time, he noticed strangers attempting to steal his bull and he chased the thieves away, and capturing one.
During preliminary interrogation, Murad stated that several others—including Sharif, Jamis, Rahul, and Sagar—were involved with him. He also claimed that shortly before the incident, they had stolen two mobile phones from a nearby house and that they regularly consume drugs together.
Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Hasan Ali said that police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and took the detained individual into custody. A written complaint has been received, and legal action is currently underway.
