Young woman who visited bar with Tahsif arrested, police seek 7-day remand

Naval Police have arrested a young woman named Jerika Nasnim Disha (19) in connection with the death of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant K M Tahsif Sauri. The young woman is reported to be Sauri's alleged girlfriend. Police have sought seven days' remand to interrogate her in the incident.
Abdullah Al Mamun, Superintendent of Police of the Naval Police's Dhaka region, disclosed the matter around 2 pm today, Sunday.
He said a young woman named Disha has been arrested. She has been sent to court with a request for seven days' remand for interrogation.
In CCTV footage from the night of the incident, Tahsif, Deep, and Disha are seen entering Nest Restaurant and Bar in Uttara.
The CCTV camera footage shows that on October 27 at 10:17 pm, Tahsif, Deep, and the young woman arrived at Nest Restaurant and Bar in Uttara's Sector 11. They went there on a motorcycle. A short while later, Deep arrived on another motorcycle. Later, all three were seen entering the restaurant together in the camera footage.
Another CCTV camera footage from the restaurant shows Tahsif and the young woman waiting in front of the lift. A short while later, Deep arrived there wearing a helmet. Then all three got into the lift together. About an hour and a half later, at 11:51 pm, they were seen coming out of the restaurant. They then left the place on motorcycles.
The investigation team is frantically searching for information on where the three went after leaving the restaurant.
Sources involved in the investigation said that following the family's complaint in the case of Tahsif's death, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) first took his constant companion and junior friend Deep into custody for questioning. At that time, Deep provided information about going to various places with Tahsif and the reasons for going to those places. However, sources claim that inconsistencies were found in his statement. Later, based on the information he provided, the PBI inspected various locations.
Naval Police sources said that Deep's earlier statements during remand, the allegations in the case filed by the family, CCTV footage, and evidence found during the investigation are being combined for interrogation. Investigation officers are trying to find out what happened before Tahsif's death and whether anyone else was involved.
On the evening of October 27, Tahsif Sauri went out from his home and went missing. The next day, Wednesday, his body was recovered from the Turag River.
Later, while coming to receive the body at the morgue of Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, Tahsif's father Enayetul Karim said, "His son is not the kind of person to commit suicide. Tahsif was murdered and then the body was thrown into the river."

Later he said again, "They got separated from the Tongi Mazar Basti area." After that he said, "Tahsif jumped into the river after being chased by a group of people."Additional DIG of PBI Dhaka Metro North Md. Enayet Hossain Mannan said, "All the information Deep has given is being verified. He says someone wearing a police uniform chased them. An investigation is underway into who chased them. Whether they were drug addicts will be known after the autopsy. He has said many things, but everything is being verified."On Friday, Tahsif's father A K M Enayetul Karim filed a case in this incident. Later, Deep was shown as arrested in the case as a suspect.The incident of Sheikh Hasina fleeing the country by plane to India was discussed worldwide. However, only one video of that incident was found, in which she was seen boarding a helicopter. After going to Kurmitola by that helicopter, she was taken to India by a military aircraft.At the time, some claimed that Flight Lieutenant Tahsif had made that video. Again, some also claimed that he did not make it, but that he released it.However, participating in a podcast on July 21 this year, Tahsif dismissed all this as propaganda.
