A complaint has been handed over to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal against 27 individuals, including actors, cultural figures, and a journalist, accusing them of incitement, abetment, and provocation in connection with the 'genocide' committed during the July 2024 mass uprising.

The complaint was submitted on Sunday afternoon by Al Noor Mohammad Ayas, Central Member Secretary of the Rashtrasanglap Forum (SDF), to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal.

After receiving the complaint, International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam told journalists that the allegations would be investigated and necessary action would be taken according to the law.

The complaint states that during the July mass uprising, the accused individuals directly or indirectly incited, supported, and provoked attacks on students and the incidents of genocide. It further alleges that even after the uprising, they continued to play an inflammatory role through various statements, social media posts, and other activities.

Those against whom the complaint has been filed include former Member of Parliament and actor Ferdous Ahmed, actor and former Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, actress and filmmaker Meher Afroz Shaon, film actor Riaz Ahmed, actress Mahiya Mahi, actress Aruna Biswas, dancer Shamima Ara Nipa, actress and director Rokeya Prachy, actress Nipun Akter, actress Tanvin Sweety, theatre personality Hridi Haq, actress Jyotika Jyoti, actor Saju Khadem, actress Sohana Saba, model and lawyer Pia Jannatul, actress Shamima Tushti, content creator Hero Alom, actress Ashna Habib Bhabna, film actor Simon Sadik, actress Sujata Azim, film actor Zayed Khan, actor Azizul Hakim, actor Chandan Reza, model Maria Kispotta, Shanta Farzana, presenter Soma Islam, and journalist Anis Alamgir.

Complainant Al Noor Mohammad Ayas told journalists that the accused individuals had taken various positions in favor of the perpetrators and incited violence during the July mass uprising, when ordinary students were being subjected to atrocities. He claimed that even after the uprising, they have continued to mock and run provocative campaigns against the movement's participants through various statements and posts on social media.

He demanded that the allegations be investigated impartially, transparently, and in accordance with the law, and that necessary action be taken.

However, immediate comments or reactions from any of the named individuals were not available.
