Former Somoy TV MD Ahmed Zobayer sent to jail in fraud Case.
In the same case, three other accused—Ahmed Rafid Kader, Sheikh Mahmud Yasmin, and Sani Chowdhury were granted bail.
The order was issued on Thursday by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain. State lawyer Omar Faruq Faruqi confirmed this.
“The accused had ignored court summons in the case. Today, the court ordered sending Ahmed Zobayer to jail. The other three accused were granted bail,” said Omar Faruq Faruqi.
According to lawyer sources, the case was filed at Kalabagan Police Station in Dhaka by complainant Mobarak Hossain. The court had earlier directed six accused, including Ahmed Zobayer, to appear before it on Wednesday. However, they did not appear, prompting the court to issue arrest warrants against them.
On Thursday, Ahmed Zobayer and three other accused surrendered before the court. Following the hearing, the court ordered Zobayer to be sent to jail, while granting bail to the other three. The remaining two accused are still absconding.
