Election Commission (EC) provided an opportunity for citizens to include their names in the new voter list ahead of the upcoming local government elections. Applications to become a new voter can be submitted until 31 July.
EC confirmed the matter in a notification signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Rashid Miah.
It said individuals born on or before 31 July 2008, who have not yet been included in the voter list, will be eligible for inclusion in the list for the upcoming local government elections if they apply within the scheduled timeframe.
Following the verification of applications submitted by the deadline, a draft voter list will be published on 9 August. The list will be displayed at Union Parishad, Municipality (Pourashava), and Upazila or Thana election offices.
If a name is missing from the draft list or if there are errors in personal information, applications for voter inclusion or data correction can be submitted until 24 August. After the final verification process, EC will publish the final voter list on 31 August.
The total number of voters in the country now stands at 12,83,23,240. Among them, there are 6,52,12,731 male voters, 6,31,09,266 female voters, and 1,243 Hijra voters.
