Holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated next Thursday. As people prepare for Eid prayers, sacrificial rituals, and celebrations with loved ones, interest is also growing over what the weather will be like on the festival day. The Meteorological Department has now answered the question of whether Eid day will bring rain or sunshine.
According to the weather forecast issued on May 23, several parts of the country may experience rain and thunderstorms on Eid day. Gusty or squally winds may also occur in some areas. However, the forecast does not indicate rainfall throughout the entire day. Many places may also see sunshine between spells of rain.
The Meteorological Department said many places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, along with some areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, may experience temporary rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. Some places may also receive moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
The forecast further said the sky may remain partly cloudy to cloudy across the country during this period. As a result, Eid day may bring a mix of sunshine and rain. While some parts of the day may remain sunny, rainfall may occur at other times.
Meteorologists said the influence of the monsoon continues to trigger rainfall across different regions of the country. They advised people to carry umbrellas or prepare for rain while going outdoors on Eid day.
The Meteorological Department also advised people to remain cautious about lightning and stormy weather during Eid prayers, sacrificial activities, and travel. In particular, it urged people to avoid staying in open fields, elevated areas, and under trees.
