Video of teacher being attacked in Rajasthan circulated as Bangladesh incident

Recently, a video circulated on social media with the claim: “A teacher being assaulted. Is this the so called ‘change’ of August 5? A teacher is like a father. Such attacks on teachers and the culture of humiliating teachers are pushing our education system and social values toward extreme deterioration.” In the comments section, many people expressed strong outrage, believing that the incident had taken place in Bangladesh.
However, an investigation by Agamir Somoy found that the original source of the circulated video is India. In other words, the claim that the incident took place in Bangladesh is completely false.
The Actual Incident and Media Verification
According to reports by Indian mainstream media outlets Jagran and PTI, the incident took place in the Sriganganagar police station area of Rajasthan. A drunken young man entered a government school and assaulted head teacher Kishanram Kayal. Local police confirmed that Kishanram Kayal had filed a formal complaint over the incident and that the process of registering an FIR was underway.
In addition, NDTV and News18 India also published the same footage in their reports, confirming the location and context of the incident. Bangladesh had no connection to the attack. It was an isolated incident in India involving a drunken outsider who attacked a school head teacher.
Repeated Dissemination of Misinformation
It is worth noting that the video had previously been circulated online with the caption “Teachers are not safe either in the newly independent Bangladesh.” An earlier fact check by Agamir Somoy identified the post as misleading.
After analyzing all the information and evidence, it has been confirmed that a video of a teacher being assaulted in India is being falsely presented as an incident that took place in Bangladesh after August 5, spreading misinformation and propaganda. Therefore, the viral claim is completely false.
