November 7 declared a public holiday

The Cabinet has approved a proposal to declare November 7 a public holiday every year on the occasion of the historic November 7, observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day. Meanwhile, there will be a holiday from October 20 to 22 on the occasion of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja. However, the previous Saturday, October 17, will be a working day.
The decision was approved at the 23rd Cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday. The Cabinet Division disclosed the information in a notice after the meeting.
According to the decision, November 7 will be a public holiday every year from now on to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day. In addition, November 7 will be included as a Category A day in the Cabinet Division's circular on the observance of national and international days. The day will be observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has rescheduled the government holidays for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja in 2026. Under the new decision, the Durga Puja holiday will be observed from October 20 to 22. However, October 17 will be a working day.
According to the government holiday calendar, October 20, Tuesday, had already been declared a holiday by executive order on the occasion of Navami. The following day, October 21, Wednesday, is a public holiday on the occasion of Bijoya Dashami. Now, October 22, Thursday, will also be a holiday by executive order.
Therefore, the Durga Puja holiday will be observed from October 20 to 22. October 23 and 24, Friday and Saturday, are weekly holidays. As October 22 has been approved as a holiday, there will be a continuous five day holiday from October 20 to 24.
Before the holiday begins, Saturday, October 17, will be a working day. The Ministry of Public Administration will issue a gazette notification on the matter soon.
