The body of an unidentified teenage girl was recovered from the Padma River in Pabna after being found stuffed inside a sack with her hands tied.

The recovery was made on Wednesday morning around 10:00 AM from the riverbank near Balrampur under Bharara Union in Pabna Sadar Upazila.

According to police, a group of farmers working in the char area of the Padma River noticed a sack floating near the riverbank. Suspecting something unusual, they approached and discovered a human body inside. They immediately informed the local police station, who later recovered the body from the scene.

Police and locals believe the victim age was between 14 and 16 years. During the inquest, authorities found a silver chain around her neck. The body was discovered inside a sack with her hands tied, while a market bag was wrapped around her neck.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Bharara Union Parishad Chairman Sultan Mahmud Khan said a microbus was seen in the area around 10:30 PM on Tuesday night. The vehicle reportedly broke down while traveling from the riverbank toward Balrampur and was later pushed to the Balrampur Mujib Dam area with the help of locals.

Locals suspect that the girl may have been abducted and killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the location using the vehicle during the night. They believe CCTV footage from Balrampur School could help uncover key details of the incident.

Officer-in-Charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, Tariqul Islam, said police were informed and promptly recovered the body. As the incident site falls under the jurisdiction of river police, they will handle further legal procedures.

He added that efforts are underway to identify the victim, and the exact cause and circumstances of death have yet to be confirmed. Multiple police teams are currently investigating the incident.
