Parts of Dhaka Without Power Since Afternoon

A fire broke out at an electrical substation in the FDC intersection area of the capital Dhaka. The incident has left several areas of the capital without electricity since Saturday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the substation near the FDC intersection at around 1:30 pm Three units from the Tejgaon Fire Service rushed to the scene after being informed and brought the fire under control.
Sources at the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) said that due to the fire, power supply has remained suspended since the afternoon in Karwan Bazar, Tejgaon, Banglamotor, Paribagh, Moghbazar, Eskaton and nearby areas. However, electricity supply has already been restored in some areas through alternative arrangements.
A director of DPDC said, “Engineers are working to restore power supply from the damaged substation. If the situation remains favorable, electricity supply will be fully restored by 10 pm.”
