Names of Newly Formed Bogura Unions Set to Change

The names of two newly formed unions, Simanta and Diganta, in Mokamtola upazila of Bogura are set to be changed.

Bogura Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman said there is a directive from the Prime Minister regarding the change.

The information was shared on Friday night through a post on the verified Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell.

Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman said, “In line with the Prime Minister’s directive, necessary steps are being taken to change the names of the two unions. A fresh hearing will be held, taking into account public opinion, local history and heritage, and geographical identity in determining the new names.”

Sources in the district administration said the new names will be finalized and published in the form of a gazette following due process.
