Mystery surrounds Jubo Dal leader’s death in Magura, what does his family say?

The body of Shaker Hossain, senior joint convener of Magura Municipal Jubo Dal, has been recovered. He was found unconscious at the Royal Paribahan counter in the town around 6 am on Wednesday. He was later taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
A wound was found on the back of his head. His family claimed that he had been shot dead.
However, it has not been confirmed whether the injury was caused by a gunshot. Police said the actual cause of death could be determined after the autopsy report is received.
Shaker Hossain was the son of the late Kutub Uddin of Beparipara in Parnanduali area of Magura town. He was actively involved in the politics of Municipal Jubo Dal. He also worked as a counter master at the Royal Express counter at Magura Bus Terminal.
Shaker’s relative Khabir Hossain said, “At around 4:30 am, while Shaker was at the counter, two people approached him when passengers went to the bathroom. A sound was heard afterward. The passengers then saw him lying on the counter table. People from another counter subsequently took him to Magura 250 Bed Sadar Hospital.”
Dr. Mainul Hasan, a physician at the hospital’s emergency department, said several people brought Shaker to the hospital around 8 am. After examination, it was found that he had died before being brought to the hospital. Police were informed after a puncture wound was found on the back of his head. His body has been kept in the hospital’s temporary morgue. The actual cause of death will be determined after the autopsy.
Meanwhile, Shaker Hossain’s relatives and local residents claimed that he had been deliberately shot dead as part of a planned attack. However, no conclusive information has yet been obtained to confirm their claim. Shaker Hossain was reportedly facing 10 cases.
Kutub Uddin, convener of Magura Sadar Upazila BNP, said, “We first received the news of Shaker’s death. Later, while his body was being washed, we noticed a wound resembling a gunshot wound on the back of his head. He was then taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.”
Magura Superintendent of Police Molla Azad visited the scene. He said a puncture wound had been found on the back of Shaker’s head. However, it is too early to confirm whether he was shot dead. Further details will be available after the autopsy report is received.
