Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow Thurdsday on a three-day official visit.
This will be the first visit to Dhaka by a Turkish foreign minister since the new government assumed office.
During his visit, Hakan Fidan is expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid, and other senior government officials.
Bangladesh and Turkey already maintain bilateral cooperation in various sectors. However, Turkey is particularly interested in expanding cooperation in the defence sector, which is expected to be a key focus of discussions during Fidan’s visit.
Earlier in April this year, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman visited Turkey, during which he extended an invitation to his Turkish counterpart to visit Bangladesh.
