A fire broke out in the regional server room, also known as the District ICT Center, on the second floor of the Khulna Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The fire broke out at around 6:20 pm on Saturday. The power supply was cut off after the fire started, leaving the entire Deputy Commissioner’s Office in darkness.
According to district administration sources, the fire broke out in the ICT room on the second floor of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at around 6:20 pm. After receiving the news, Fire Service personnel arrived at the scene. They brought the fire under control after nearly half an hour of efforts. Batteries, chairs and tables in the server room were damaged in the fire.
However, district administration sources could not confirm whether the fire originated from an electrical short circuit or an act of sabotage.
Masud Rana, deputy director of Khulna Fire Service, said, “After receiving the information at 6:28 pm, five Fire Service units arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control. However, it is not possible to say at this moment what caused the fire without an investigation.”
Meanwhile, several attempts were made to contact Khulna Deputy Commissioner Hure Jannat by phone for comments on the incident, but she did not respond.
