Three arrested with weapons while preparing for robbery in Joypurhat

Police from the District Detective Branch (DB) have arrested three members of an organized robbery gang with locally made weapons and various tools while they were allegedly preparing for a robbery in Joypurhat.
They were arrested around noon Wednesday from the Chokshyam Bridge area in Dogachhi Union of the district.
The arrested men were Rayhan Hossain (26), son of Mozafor Hossain of Chokshyam village in Dogachhi Union; Saidul Islam (38), son of the late Akbar Ali of East Dhanmondi area in Joypurhat town; and Sumon Hossain (30), son of the late Abdus Samad of Mathorpara area in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha.
According to DB police sources, the arrested group had been carrying out robberies and other criminal activities in various areas of the district for a long time. They had gathered at the Chokshyam Bridge area and were preparing for a robbery. Acting on a tip, a team of DB police conducted a raid and arrested them.
During the operation, police recovered one Chinese axe, one lock cutter, one locally made sickle, one bamboo stick, one hacksaw blade, four iron rods and a 29.4 foot long plastic rope from their possession.
District Detective Police Officer in Charge (OC) Md. Asaduzzaman said cases have been filed against the arrested suspects under the relevant laws.
