Chhatra Shibir and Chhatra Dal clash at Dhaka Alia Madrasah

Several rounds of chases and counter chases took place between Chhatra Shibir and Chhatra Dal activists at Dhaka Alia Madrasah. The incident occurred around 4 pm Tuesday in front of National Medical in the Madrasah area. Police worked to bring the situation under control. Although the situation came under control around 4:30 pm, tensions remained high. The clash reportedly began over control of seats in the residential halls.
According to reports, tension had been prevailing between leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir at the Madrasah since the morning. At one point, shortly after noon, the two groups became involved in a clash. Leaders and activists of the two student organizations engaged in the clash even in the presence of police. Both sides threw bricks and stones during the incident.
Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists alleged that they were attacked for protesting the illegal occupation of seats in the residential halls. On the other hand, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists claimed that Chhatra Shibir was creating such trouble across the country.
Earlier Tuesday, Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists were also involved in clashes at Jagannath University and Dhaka College. A clash broke out in the central auditorium of Jagannath University in the morning in the presence of the University Grants Commission chairman. JnUCSU Vice President, General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, along with Jagannath University Chhatra Shakti President Shahin Mia, Secretary Ferdous Sheikh, Jagannath University Chhatra Front's Ivan Tahsin and others were seriously injured.
Meanwhile, at least 20 Chhatra Shibir and seven Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were injured in the clash at Dhaka College.
