The Operator Information Support System (OISS) has been installed at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. Russia has implemented this advanced system outside its territory for the first time.
Rosatom Automated Control Systems has successfully integrated the OISS into the instrumentation and control system of Unit 1, which is currently under commissioning.
In this regard, RASU CEO Andrey Butko said the Operator Information Support System is designed to help personnel monitor and analyze the condition of the power unit in real time. By optimizing data processing and supporting operator decision-making, the system significantly enhances operational efficiency and reliability. He added that the implementation at the Rooppur NPP marks another important milestone in introducing advanced digital technologies in global nuclear power projects.
Project Director of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction project, Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain, highlighted the importance of the initiative for Bangladesh’s energy future.
He said the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is a landmark project for Bangladesh’s energy sector. Along with modern reactor technology, the integration of advanced digital solutions such as OISS will help establish a strong operational culture and improve the efficiency of plant personnel. He added that the system will serve as an important support tool for operators at the country’s first nuclear power plant.
He further added that the system will be used exclusively by authorized personnel inside the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
The OISS was first tested at Russia’s Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant and has already been deployed at Kursk NPP-2, one of the country’s most advanced nuclear power facilities.
