Foreign adviser arrives in Maldives

Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman has arrived in the Maldives on a three day official visit to attend the 61st anniversary celebrations of the country's Independence. He was received at the airport by Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, which runs from July 25 to 27, Dr. Khalilur Rahman will pay a courtesy call on Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He will also hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel.
The meeting will focus on further strengthening the long standing partnership between Bangladesh and the Maldives, reviewing various aspects of bilateral cooperation, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The two foreign ministers will also exchange views on regional and international developments. They will reaffirm their commitment to continued cooperation in regional and multilateral forums.
This is Dr. Khalilur Rahman's first official visit to the Maldives since assuming office as Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser on February 17.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit will serve as an important milestone in further strengthening the long standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives. It will also pave the way for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in the future.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman traveled to the Maldives after attending the ASEAN Regional Forum conference in Manila.
