An investigative report published by Agamir Somoy has been selected among the best investigative and in-depth stories featured in the June 2026 newsletter of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), a leading international platform for investigative journalism.

The report, titled “Advisers’ Hefty Medical Bills in a Short Time,” was written by Agamir Somoy Staff Reporter Mehedi Hasan Masud. It was published online on June 27 and appeared on the newspaper’s front page the following day.

The investigation revealed how much public money individual government advisers received to cover their medical expenses, highlighting the scale of the expenditures.

Each month, GIJN Bangla publishes a curated list of notable investigative and in-depth reports from Bangladeshi media outlets. Alongside Agamir Somoy, the June 2026 edition also featured The Descent for ‘One Taka, One Insult,’  BDNews24 for ‘Anonymous SIM-MFS Accounts,’ and Channel 24 for ‘Adulterated Baby Food Sold Under Trusted Brands.’
