Ahead of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali has returned to Dhaka from Tokyo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed him not to participate in this visit scheduled for 26 to 29 October. In his absence, Secretary Md Nazrul Islam will oversee the preparation and management of the PM’s visit in Tokyo.
According to diplomatic sources, upon receiving instructions from the ministry, Daud has already returned to Dhaka. He has been in the country for nearly a week. Meanwhile, Nazrul arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday. He will remain there until the visit.
On condition of anonymity, a government official said, “Recalling an ambassador to their home country before a high-level visit is rare. I cannot state the reason why he was recalled. However, Daud was asked to return, and he has returned.”
At the invitation of Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi, Tarique will depart for Tokyo on 26 October on a three-day visit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already finalized overall preparations surrounding the visit.
On Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam briefed regarding the visit to Japan at a press conference hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said during the visit, there is a possibility of announcing memorandums of understanding or cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, fisheries, human resource development and skill enhancement, civil aviation, trade, environmental conservation, and local government modernization.
On the second day of the visit, Tarique will hold a meeting with Takaichi.
