'Oman to take 10,000 farmers and fishermen from Bangladesh,' says Shama

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has said Oman will take 5,000 farmers and 5,000 fishermen from Bangladesh.

Today (Wednesday), an Omani delegation met with State Minister Shama Obaed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The minister later briefed reporters on the matter.

Shama Obaed said, "Our government has discussed with Oman's Ministry of Agriculture. A delegation from Oman had come. Oman has expressed interest in taking 5,000 farmers and 5,000 fishermen—totaling 10,000 workers from us. An agreement has been signed regarding this."

The State Minister informed that an Omani delegation will come next month, and the finalization will proceed after discussions with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare.

Regarding the opening of Oman's visa, Shama Obaed said, "Oman's visa has been suspended for various reasons. This happened during the previous government. We are trying through diplomatic efforts to ensure that Bangladeshis can go to Oman regularly."

Regarding actress Azmeri Haque Badhon, who was harassed in Venice, Italy, by activists of the banned Awami League, she said, "As long as Badhon stays in Italy, the Bangladesh Embassy there will ensure her overall security."

Earlier, on Tuesday, actress Badhon was harassed in Italy. Activists of the banned Awami League and banned Chhatra League attacked her.
