Diamond World MD Dilip Agarwala arrested

Police have arrested Dilip Kumar Agarwala, a leading jewelry businessman in the country.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) reported that he was arrested in connection with an older case. However, the specific case could not be confirmed.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala is the Managing Director (MD) of Diamond World. He is also a former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association.
Additional Commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Sheikh Nazmul Alam told Agamir Somoy that he was arrested at his residence in capital's Gulshan on Monday afternoon.
He said Dilip Agarwala was arrested in connection with a case filed by the Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Dilip Agarwala faces multiple charges, including gold and diamond smuggling, fraud, and forgery.
Following the July uprising in 2024, Dilip Agarwala had been detained. He was also shown arrested in a murder case dating back to the July movement, in which he subsequently secured bail.
