17 senior police officers sent into compulsory retirement

The government has sent 17 senior police officers into compulsory retirement.

The information was disclosed in a notification issued on Thursday by the Police 1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The notification was signed by Senior Secretary Monzur Morshed Chowdhury by order of the President.

Among the retired officers are three Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) and 11 officers of the rank of Additional Deputy Inspector General.

The notification said that the retired officers will receive all retirement benefits in accordance with the rules. It also said, “This order, issued in the public interest, shall take effect immediately.”

Earlier, on July 5, the government sent 33 senior police officers into compulsory retirement, including 14 DIGs, 18 Additional Deputy Inspectors General, and one Superintendent of Police (SP).

Before that, on May 3, 17 senior officers were sent into compulsory retirement. On April 22, under the same provision, 11 DIGs and two Additional Deputy Inspectors General were also sent into compulsory retirement.
