Govt executes major reshuffle in Police

The government has carried out a major reshuffle in the police administration. A total of 14 officers from the BCS (Police) cadre have been transferred and posted. On Tuesday, three separate notifications were issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, transferring and posting a total of 14 officers of the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police (SP) to new postings.
Top-Level Changes
In this police reshuffle, the top posts of Mymensingh Range and Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) have been changed. DIG of Mymensingh Range Md. Ataul Kibria has been transferred as DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He has been replaced by Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Jahidul Hasan, who has been given the charge.
On the other hand, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Quddus Chowdhury has been appointed as DIG of Chittagong Range, while DIG of Police Headquarters Sarwar Morshed Shameem has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP). Additionally, a previous transfer order of CID DIG Masud Karim has been cancelled.
New Postings in RAB and Headquarters
Important changes have also been made in RAB and Police Headquarters. Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) Sharif Uddin Ahmed has been posted to RAB as a Supernumerary Additional DIG.
Furthermore, Additional DIG of Industrial Police Md. Kafil Uddin has been transferred as Additional DIG (Current Charge) at Police Headquarters.
New SP in Pabna and Attachments to Various Ranges
A new Superintendent of Police has been appointed in Pabna district. The current SP Md. Shofi Ullah has been transferred as Special Superintendent of Police in CID. He has been replaced by Abu Ashraf of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, who has been given charge as the new SP of Pabna.
In addition, several officers have been attached to the offices of various Range DIGs. Among them, Additional DIG of Police Staff College Nasiyan Wajed, A F M Nizam Uddin of Police Headquarters, and Special SP of Special Branch (SB) Tahsin Mashruf Hossain Masfik have been attached to Rangpur Range.
Furthermore, Mohammad Ashikur Rahman of the In-Service Training Centre has been posted to Khulna Range, Md. Apel Mahmud of Tourist Police to Rajshahi Range, and CID's Mir Abu Tawhid to the Chittagong Range DIG office.
The orders, signed by Deputy Secretary Towhid Ahmed of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, have been directed to be implemented immediately in the public interest.
