Minor Lured via TikTok, Sexually Assaulted in Hotel

A young man was arrested by law enforcement on allegations of sexual assaulting a school student at a residential hotel in Sunamganj municipal town. They met through TikTok.
The arrested person, Akash Chandra Das (23), is a resident of Amritasari village under Gourarang Union in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila.
The case statement says, “Akash became acquainted with a ninth-grade student of a local high school through social media. As their relationship became closer, he took the student to a hotel at the Old Bus Stand area in Sunamganj municipal town and allegedly sexually assaulted him. He recorded the incident on his mobile phone. Later, threatening to leak the video, he took the student to another hotel and assaulted him again. He fled after the incident, leaving the student alone. The victim’s family later informed Sunaamganj Sadar Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the accused with the help of RAB. The mobile phone used to record the footage was also seized.”
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sunamganj Sadar Police Station, Md. Ratan Sheikh, stated regarding the incident that an investigation was initiated after receiving the complaint. The accused went into hiding after the incident became public. He was later arrested by RAB with the help of information technology. The mobile phone has been seized as evidence.
