Fuel prices to remain unchanged in August

The government has kept the retail prices of all types of fuel unchanged for August. As a result, diesel will continue to sell at Tk 115 per liter, kerosene at Tk 135, petrol at Tk 140 and octane at Tk 145 next month.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division issued a notification on the matter Thursday from its Operation 1 branch. The notification, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Enamul Haque, said the prices currently in effect will remain unchanged for August 2026. The new prices will take effect on August 1.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division said the decision was taken with the approval of the appropriate authority based on a recommendation submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation on July 27.
Under the unchanged pricing structure, diesel will remain at Tk 115 per liter next month, while kerosene will cost Tk 135, petrol Tk 140 and octane Tk 145.
The same prices were also maintained in June and July. As a result, the government has kept the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol and octane unchanged for the third consecutive month.
The government has been setting fuel prices every month after reviewing fluctuations in international fuel prices, import costs and the overall market situation. Although the price of furnace oil was reduced in July, no changes were made to the prices of diesel, petrol, octane and kerosene. The same policy has been maintained for August.
