July Museum to be the center of inspiration for new Bangladesh: Dr. Yunus

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, former chief adviser of the interim government, has said that the 'July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum' is not just a place to preserve memories of the past, but a center of inspiration for building a new Bangladesh.

"The museum will not only preserve history but also lay the foundation for building the future," he said.

Dr. Yunus made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the 'July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum' in the capital on Wednesday morning.

Dr. Yunus said that while there are many types of museums around the world, the 'July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum' is unique in its character. It does not contain centuries-old history; rather, documents, artifacts, memorabilia, and people's emotions related to the uprising have been collected and preserved from the very time of the events. Through this, a new chapter in historical preservation has been opened.

He pointed out that if the nation ever loses its way, this museum will show the path. If there is any deviation in thought and values, it will be possible to draw fresh inspiration from here and move forward.

Recalling the sacrifices of the young people who participated in the July uprising, Dr. Yunus said many young people wrote down their feelings without any prior planning. They also mentioned in their letters why they took to the streets despite family opposition. These documents will inspire future generations in building Bangladesh anew.

He further said that every citizen of the country should visit this museum at least once. In particular, students from schools, colleges, and universities should not just view the history, but also record their own dreams, aspirations, and future plans there.

Dr. Yunus expressed hope that in the future, the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum will become one of the vibrant hubs for the country's culture, art, music, painting, and creative activities. At the same time, it will also grow into an important center for the nation's cultural heritage.

Referring to the symbolic graves built in the museum, he said that the identity and sacrifice of each martyr will be preserved there so that future generations can know how and why they sacrificed their lives.

Dr. Yunus said that the martyrs of the July uprising were not members of any particular political party. They were ordinary boys and girls from ordinary families who took to the streets dreaming of a new Bangladesh.

Applauding those involved in building the museum, he said that collecting each artifact required a long time, hard work, and overcoming many challenges. Thanks to those efforts, it has been possible to present these important historical documents to the nation today.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Yunus thanked everyone involved in the construction and inauguration of the museum. He called upon the people of the country to visit the museum at least once with their families. It is not just a place to see, but a place to think. From here, one can find direction for the future journey of Bangladesh.
